On a warm summer Thursday, a video producer from WFXT-TV 25 in Boston came to Lake Cochituate in Natick to spend the morning with participants from 91³Ô¹Ï’s Meaningful Whole Life (MWL) program. The meeting was set up to prepare a story for the Channel 25 News about how people served by the program benefit from a day of fishing.
About two dozen participants in the MWL program were on hand, in addition to several staff members. MWL is a signature program of 91³Ô¹Ï which encourages participants who have intellectual and developmental disabilities and acquired brain injuries to engage in activities driven by each person’s unique hopes and interests: activities that most people take for granted. The Fishing Club is among the program’s most popular activities. It’s not just fun, it also teaches patience and perseverance.
