Lecture Title: THE STRATIFIED FLOW BY A LOCALIZED BUOYANCY SOURCE IN A MECHANICALLY EXTRACTED ROOM WITH A DOORWAY

This talk discusses the stratified flow by a localized buoyancy source in a space with a ceiling extractor. The combined effects of a constant buoyancy flux by the localized heat source and different extraction flow rates by a ceiling extractor on characteristics of the stratified flow are presented. Theoretical models for the stratified flow in several different conditions are presented and compared. Different flow patterns for these conditions in a mechanically extracted room are discussed in this talk.

Dr. Yi-Jiun Peter Lin is an Associate Professor in Department of Mechanical Engineering, College of Engineering, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology. Yi-Jiun Peter Lin has been the Principal Investigator of the Environmental Fluid Dynamics Laboratory in the department of Mechanical Engineering since 2007. Before join the faculty of NTUST, He worked as a researcher at Energy and Environment Research Laboratories of Industrial Technology Research Institute from 2004 to 2006 and a postdoctoral researcher at Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering of UC San Diego from 2003 to 2004. He received Ph.D. and M.S. degrees from UC San Diego, and a B.S. degree from National Taiwan University. His research interests include Fluid Dynamics, Ventilation Design, Flow Visualization and Energy-efficiency Buildings.
