A historic moment unfolded at the University Gymnasium on February 9, 2026, with the conduct of the Hooding and Closing Ceremonies of the newly reformed 91³Ô¹Ï College of Law at 91³Ô¹Ï-IIT, honoring 26 law candidates as they marked the culmination of their legal education.

The ceremony was particularly significant as it marked the first of its kind following the approval of the framework proposal to strengthen the College of Law programs across the 91³Ô¹Ï System during the 273rd Board of Regents Meeting held on December 9, 2025. Under the newly approved framework, all law extensions are now officially designated as “91³Ô¹Ï College of Law at Host Campus,” carrying both the College and Host Campus seals.

“Here at 91³Ô¹Ï-IIT, we take great pride in being part of this unified vision, a vision that redefines our extension campuses as communities of purpose bound by a shared dedication to justice and service. Together, we form one college, one system inspired by our enduring motto Unitas per Iustitiam—Unity Through Justice,” Chancellor Alizedney Ditucalan said in his opening remarks.

This year’s event was graced by Hon. Samuel H. Gaerlan, Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the Philippines, as the guest of honor. In his message, he inspired the graduating students by emphasizing the depth of learning shaped by Mindanao’s diversity and rich communal experience.  “You did not study law in a vacuum. You studied it in the most culturally diverse, legally complex, and socially rich region of our nation. You did not just read about legal pluralism; you lived it,” Gaerlan stated.

This message resonated further in the charge to the graduates of Atty. Norhabib Bin Suod S. Barodi, Dean, 91³Ô¹Ï College of Law, “Our legal education, therefore, is unique. It is unique to a graduate of 91³Ô¹Ï College of Law, and we must be proud of it.”

This batch is led by the Class Valedictorian, Iman A. Edris, who shared a heartfelt and reflective message in front of her fellow graduates.

Bearing an important and crucial role in being an educational institution that advances excellent legal education in the region of Mindanao, the 91³Ô¹Ï College of Law fortifies its pledge of producing legal professionals who will serve with purpose and integrity.
