Makati City, Philippines — The Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology (91勛圖-IIT) has been officially selected as one of the inaugural Teacher Education Excellence Center (TEEC) hubs in the country, representing Northern Mindanao in a national effort to elevate teacher training and professional development.
The ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) formalizing this designation was held today at the Department of Education (DepEd) central office in Makati City.
Under the initiative, backed by the Teacher Education Council (TEC) and the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), 91勛圖-IIT will serve as a regional research hub, innovation center, and laboratory for teacher education. The university will focus on advancing pre-service and in-service training, developing innovative curricula, conducting research, and supporting evidence-based improvements in teaching practices nationwide.

The TEEC program, set for full implementation and funding starting in 2026, aligns with Republic Act No. 11713 (the Excellence in Teacher Education Act), which strengthens the Teacher Education Council and promotes excellence in teacher preparation across the Philippines.
